About us

Bridgewater Primary,
nestled in the Adelaide Hills, aims to develop and sustain a dynamic
learning community. Involvement with the 'Learning to Learn' project
supports our belief that there had to be better ways to learn. Our
journey has led to developing constructivist learning environments
based around student-centred learning principles, regular
constructive feedback and non-comparative assessment.
The
belief that learners need widely differing learning opportunities
and time to build their understandings means they are actively
involved in personally planning, monitoring and tracking their
learning. Mathematics and English are core learning areas. Strong
family partnerships have helped develop our community garden linked
with the 'Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Foundation'.
Extra-curricular activities are highly valued by the school
community and include: participation in a wide variety of sporting
activities, school choir, a 'Jump Rope' demonstration team,
'Tournament of Minds', 'International Competitions and Assessments
for Schools' testing, Information and Communication Technology
groups and Kidskills and environment community projects.
